Well, THAT’S pretty cool! Not entirely clear what the political perspective of this piece was, but it reports accurately (See here) that S.1 has not made it through the Senate yet. As Congress.gov says, the following Act is part of S.1:
Combating BDS Act of 2019
The bill allows a state or local government to adopt measures to divest its assets from entities using boycotts, divestments, or sanctions to influence Israel’s policies. Such measures shall meet various requirements, including those related to written notice and comment.”
It’s reported that “A few Democratic Senators such as Bernie Sanders (VT) and Dianne Feinstein (CA), oppose anti-BDS legislation on free speech grounds,” but it’s very good news that as long as S.1 is held back by filibusters (A 60-40 majority is required to defeat a filibuster), the Combating BDS Act is going nowhere.
