Reuters reports that Israel has now announced that it is a Jewish state. That makes all Palestinians residing within the borders of Israel into second-class citizens.
“’I announce with shock and sorrow the death of democracy,’ Ahmed Tibi, an Arab lawmaker, told reporters after the law was adopted.”
“Those who stayed [after the 1948 Nakba] have equal rights under law but say they face constant discrimination, citing inferior services and unfair allocations for education, health and housing.” Now, of course, the inferior status of those Palestinians who remained in Israel is enshrined in law.
In other words, Israel is now officially an apartheid state.
