Back on March 14th, Al Jazeera reported that Hamas successfully fired two rockets from Gaza that made it all the way to Tel Aviv. Neither of them caused any casualties. Israeli airstrikes hit 100 targets in Gaza. Following the strike, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Jason Greenblat showed a very pro-Israeli/anti-Palestinian bias by saying via Twitter that “You’re the cause of this misery. You choose violence. You’re ruining lives day after day after day. No one else. Time to choose something else.”
On the 25th, more rockets were fired, wounding seven Israelis. Hamas claimed both launches were accidental. But after the second launch, Israel struck back even harder. Al Jazeera says: “The Israeli army confirmed that its warplanes had carried out 15 bombardments in the Gaza Strip,” but the current ceasefire is holding. The Russian-affiliated TV station RT shows pictures of the damage caused by the airstrikes. Not clear as to what the significance of the following might be. “The barrage began as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.” Earlier, it was thought that Hamas was firing Iranian-made rockets, but now “Maj. Mika Lifshitz, a military spokesperson, said it was a self-manufactured rocket with a range of 120 kilometres, making it one of the deepest rocket strikes ever carried out by Hamas.”
