Dear C/J Allies Friends,
Last year, many of you participated in our fund raising event for Hebron International Resource Network, an organization that provides VERY grassroots support to Palestinians directly affected by the Occupation.
Hamed Qawasmeh, H.I.R.N.’s founder, was at St. Martin’s in the Fields for that event and a lot of Allies got to know him.
This year, we are trying something a bit different – a delicious middle eastern progressive dinner on Friday, November 30th in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, beginning at Rabbi Linda Holtzman’s house for shabbat candle-lighting and then moving 1/2 block to Mira Rabin and Tom Whitman’s home, where Mira will be cooking for us (she is an outstanding cook!) I hope you will join us. We will be joined by some notable guests, including Jonathan Kuttab, renowned civil rights attorney and founder of Nonviolence International. We will also get an update from Hamed about the situation on the ground in the West Bank and his activities.
This has been a difficult year for Palestinians and those of us who support human rights in that part of the world. I hope you will join us in solidarity by supporting an organization that provides real, basic assistance like outfitting medical clinics, rebuilding houses and schools destroyed by the IDF, helping women in remote villages learn to drive, and a host of other on-the-ground assistance.
The cost is $125 per person. Here’s the link to the invitation and sign-up.
Thanks, Laura
