A full room of Allies were present yesterday to meet Zainab Ramahi. We missed those who were unable to attend, and want to share with everyone our enthusiasm for her project, Pal Trek, as well as provide contact information for you to follow up, support, and make donations, as you feel so inclined.
Zainab is a Palestinian attorney. She described her initiative, Pal Trek, the goal of which is to provide a Spring Break trip to Palestine for US law students. The trip (trek) is thoughtfully designed to tour, meet, and educate about Palestine, and includes opportunities for debriefing and discussing the experience.
Here’s a brief description of Pal Trek, and some links that I requested and received this morning from Zainab:
“After a successful and empowering first trip last year, we are organizing our second Spring Break trip to Palestine! PalTrek received over 140 applications, meaning we could have twice as many trekkers this year as last. With your help, people won’t have to choose between this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and their wallet!
The purpose of Palestine Trek is to introduce trekkers to Palestinian heritage, history, people, and culture, to expose the reality of life under military occupation, and to elevate the Palestinian narrative. Palestine Trek will contribute to changing the discourse on the Israel/Palestine conflict by critically engaging graduate students through a robust week-long trip to Palestine. In the current political climate, this goal is more important than ever. During the trek, students will meet activists, artists, business people, and politicians, and visit heritage and religious sites.
