The BBC reports that Palestinians are using kites and balloons to start fires in Israel, “flying incendiary kites and balloons into Israeli territory, destroying more than 900 hectares (2,200 acres) of forest, nature reserves and agricultural fields.” The Israeli military has managed to intercept about two-thirds of the improvised incendiary devices, but quite a few fires have been started. One of the ways in which the Israeli military is adapting is they’ve “adapted a new rifle sighting system to intercept airborne threats, including kite bombs and incendiary balloons.”
