Subject: We need your immediate support. Dear friends,

I am Yousef Natsha, the filmmaker who screened the documentary Hebron with all of you at some point last year, and Rachel & I promised to send you an update every now and then.
As I have mentioned in most of the film screening events, I am going back to Palestine to continue working for human rights in Hebron with the human rights organization Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT).

Rachel and I tried to enter to Palestine on the 22nd of February, but unfortunately the Israeli border police sent us back to Jordan, saying that Rachel should request an advanced visa. We have worked on this, and we sent it to the Israeli coordinating office.

Since then, we have been in a holding pattern in Jordan while we waited for a response from the Israeli coordination office about Rachel’s visa. The office notified us on the 14th of March that they will grant Rachel a permit, on the condition that we pay a $14,000 bond.
We are asking for your help to fundraise this bond money. At the end of this email is a link to the GoFundMe page with a brief explanation of our situation. We would greatly appreciate if you could share this with your networks, and consider making a donation yourself. We know that the amount of the bond is very high, but we also know that with support from each of you, donations in any amount make a difference.
You may notice that we did not mention our human rights work in the description for general publicity on the GoFundMe page or other public postings – this is due to our situation still being sensitive within the Israeli system. We would also appreciate you doing the same. However, if you are sharing this with people you know personally, feel free to talk about our motivations for this trip and our work in human rights – we just aren’t posting that part publicly at this moment.
At this time, the human rights situation in Palestine has gotten worse with increased settler and military violence. Five Palestinians in the West Bank have been killed by the Israeli military, just within the past three days. In addition to this increased violence, two other human rights organizations in Hebron have been pushed out by the Israeli government. Christian Peacemaker Teams is one of the few remaining human rights organizations in Hebron, and CPT has also faced a wave of human rights observers being denied entry to Palestine by Israeli officials. Given this situation, we deeply appreciate your support in helping us return to Palestine to continue our work.
Please do not hesitate to be in touch with any questions.
Many thanks,
     Yousef Natsha
