The publication The Forward is upset with the Dyke March because the march wants to make it clear that they have taken sides on the Israel-Palestinian dispute and they don’t favor Israel.
I had an FB friend present the piece and reading it, it’s impossible to distinguish between being anti-the -state-of-Israel and just plain anti-Semitic. When I shared her post, she complained that “But by prohibiting the star not on the Israeli flag, it becomes an act of antisemitism. I would have less of a problem if they banned Israeli flags from the march. “
But as the Star of David represents both the state of Israel and the Jewish people generally, it’s impossible to have people carry it in a march without causing confusion as to where the marchers stand on the Israel-Palestinian issue.
