The idea of the “Unity Intifada” has been around for a least a few months, but it has gained new meaning and relevance after the fighting between Israel and Palestinians in May of this year. That fighting produced great unity among Palestinian factions. According to this statement from a group of Palestinians, they seek a single state where all ethnicities live as equals. In a piece that summarizes much of what’s been happening:
Over the last two months, Palestinians across colonized Palestine have been protesting in shared struggle with Sheikh Jarrah, including Palestinians with Israeli citizenship in cities like Haifa, Jaffa, and Lydd. These protests and demonstrations were met with violent repression from the Israeli regime, a reaction that is neither unprecedented nor unexpected.
The piece then goes on to describe further acts of unity: “We are one people and one society throughout Palestine.” The Palestinian Feminist Collective stands with HotHouseGlobal is support of the Unity Intifada. Inside Arabia feels that “Unified, Nonviolent Protest” is the way to go.
