Israeli Supreme Court orders two parties to “settle,” but there’s no basis for any sort of settlement

Israeli settlers want the Palestinian residents of the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah to move out as an Israeli law says that if a Palestinian home was occupied by Jewish people prior to 1948, then Israelis may “reclaim” it and evict the Palestinians.

The Palestinian residents are refusing to budge and will not open up any discussions.

The families said they “firmly reject” the terms of such an agreement, “for these are our homes and the settlers are not our landlords.”
